A spark of joy

I'm Brenda, and this is the story of how Spark Adaptive began.

Before my son Cole was born, I spent my days exploring the mountains and oceans, with nearly 25 years of employment in the ski industry and summers spent working on the water at marinas, fishing lodges, and as a deckhand on charter boats and yachts.

When it became clear that Cole would be a wheelchair user, I began searching for ways to keep us active and enjoying the outdoors. During this time, I discovered the Hippocampe all-terrain wheelchair. The first time we rolled down to the beach together, a spark of joy ignited. The ease with which we could navigate the outdoors brought tears to my eyes, and I realized how vital it was for us to maintain this connection to nature as Cole grew.

This experience inspired me to want to help others find that same kind of freedom. It also aligned perfectly with my need for self-employment, as Cole’s care needs made traditional work difficult. I knew I could help others by offering the opportunity to experience these products firsthand, providing a try-before-you-buy option, and delivering personalized service with Canadian pricing.

Cole and I are a team. We explore new products together and love introducing them to our customers, helping them discover the same freedom and adventure we enjoy.
